Josephine Tjia
謝祿英

Josephine obtained her Bachelor of Laws (Hons) Degree in King’s College London. She also holds a Master of Laws Degree (specialising in China law).  She is an accredited mediator of Hong Kong International Arbitration Center and panel mediator of English Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and Hong Kong Bar Association since 2007.

Josephine maintains an active civil practice, focusing on trust and tort laws, land title disputes, probate, personal injuries and death inquests, medical negligence, contractual/commercial litigation, company listing, bankruptcy, employment and matrimonial law.  She also regularly prosecutes and defends various criminal charges at different levels of courts.  She has advocated on her own in Court of Final Appeal, Court of Appeal, Court of First Instance, District Court, Family Court, Coroner’s Court and all Magistrates’ Courts.  She advises the government, various public and private bodies on pro bono basis regularly, focusing mainly on educational matters.  She is also a part-time lecturer and assessor of Faculty of Law of The University of Hong Kong since 2011.  Subjects she taught included tort (LLB), civil litigation, commercial dispute resolution, professional practice and management, civil advocacy, criminal advocacy and personal injuries advocacy (PCLL).

She speaks fluent English, Putonghua and Cantonese and drafts legal documents in both English and Chinese.
